ATTENDANCE
Good, regular attendance and discipline are essential, as are punctual arrivals for class. Calisthenics is a team sport and cannot be perfected unless the entire team is present at every practice. Practice sessions are therefore regarded as compulsory. Coaches must be notified if you are to be absent.
Lessons are held during the school holidays which precede the competitions (April and July school holidays), with no practices during the September/October school holidays or over the Christmas break. As most of the public holidays fall in the first half of the year (before competitions), classes held on Monday nights will be as usual throughout all public holidays, excluding Easter Monday, unless otherwise directed by your Coach.
Additional practices are also held in the lead up to competitions for all sections (excluding Tinies). Each team is scheduled up to four extra practices, as well as a stage practice at the Royalty Theatre.
REQUIREMENTS
To every lesson it is important that:
• You arrive to class 10 minutes prior to start time, so that lessons can commence on time.
• Girls wear:
a leotard, (preferably black),
leggings, bike pants or stockings (with the feet cut out), may be worn underneath the leotard,
Club t-shirt or a tight fitting top may also be worn (all preferably black).
• Hair is up and out of the girl’s faces, either in a pony or a bun (fringes are allowed).
• Your child brings a drink (preferably water).
FLEX CLASSES
Flex Lessons are held on Saturday morning from 10:00am until 11:00am, with the cost being $5 per session.
The focus of ‘Flex Classes’ is to build and strengthen core muscles and improve flexibility. The classes will consist of a combination of flexibility, postural improvement, static holds, core activation and strengthening. The ‘Flex Classes’ are created to compliment the skills required for Calisthenics including flexibility, strength, control, grace and poise.
